Enterprise AI search: from document finder to answers with sources
Your team loses time opening folders, apps and chats to find a single answer. Enterprise AI search looks across everything at once and tells you where each result comes from.
Searching is not the same as finding
Every tool has its own search. To find something you must know where to look: Drive, Notion, chat, email. Someone who has been there for years knows. A new colleague does not.
When search fails, the team asks the person who knows, and that interruption repeats every day.
Three ways to search
| Type | How it searches | What it returns | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic search | Exact words | A list of files | Use another word and it misses |
| Semantic search | By meaning | Related documents | You still read the results |
| Assistant with sources | By meaning, across sources | An answer with its document | Depends on what is connected |
What semantic search adds
It understands that “client leaving”, “cancellation” and “account closure” are about the same thing. It finds documents that exact-word search misses.
It has an important limit: it finds what is relevant, not what each person may see. Without permissions applied properly, it can surface something restricted. Why AI assistants leak company data explains how.
What a search tool does not know
Who can see what
Savia applies each person’s permissions when it queries.
What is not written down
If the answer is missing, it says so and asks the expert.
Which version rules
It cites the document so you can check it is current.
Where everything is
It connects Notion, Drive, GitHub and other chosen sources. See integrations.
Test it with your own questions
- Gather questions. The ones your team asked this week.
- Search them today. With your current tools.
- Check. Does it find, cite and respect permissions?
- Note the failures. They are your list of missing knowledge.
With that result, the Invisible Tax test helps put a figure on it. To see how answers cite their source, read answers with sources.
Frequently asked questions
What is enterprise AI search?
It means searching across all company sources at once, asking in plain language, and getting what is relevant along with where it comes from.
What is semantic search?
Search that understands meaning, not just exact words. If you search for “client leaving”, it can find a document that talks about “cancellation”.
Does an AI document search read everything I have?
Only what you connect. You choose the sources and what enters from each, and Savia shows where each answer comes from.
Can it show restricted documents to people who should not see them?
It should not. A good system applies each person’s permissions when searching, not afterwards. Savia queries with each user’s access.
Does it replace Drive or Notion search?
It complements them. Each search knows its own tool; enterprise search looks across all of them and also answers and cites.
What if the answer is not written down anywhere?
Savia says so and can ask the area expert. That explanation then becomes available to the next person.
